Greek Heroes

So, you have learn all about the gods, let's introduce you to the heroes.

  1. Perseus - The hero who slew Medusa and rescued his wife from a sea monster
  2. Heracles - Persecution by Hera and his 12 labours and adventures
  3. Orpheus - Pursues his wife to hell and back
  4. Oedipus - Defeated the Sphinx.
  5. Jason - Quest for the Golden Fleece
  6. Theseus - Defeat of the Minotaur
  7. Achilles - Invincible in the battefields of Trojan War except for his heel
  8. Odysseus - He took 10 years and went through many adventures before returning to his wife Penelope after the Trojan War

Greek heroes are often sons of gods and goddesses. They win their glory, thrones and sometimes immortality through their adventures. Each of them blazed a unique path to achieve everlasting fame.

A few of them, tragic heroes, such as Odepius, Daedalus, Icarus and Phaethon engineered their own downfall, were remembered as much or more of their tragedies than their triumphs. But most of the Greek heroes are celebrated for their victories.

Some heroes - Achilles, Hector and Odysseus, became heroes in the battlefield. Others such as Perseus, Theseus, Heracles were famous for their battles against monsters and beasts.

Regardless of the path they chose, all earned their place in the Heroes' Hall of Fame. They have become immortals through the enduring stories of their adventures.
